Refrigerators and freezers - Pickup Service:
For ComEd customers, ComEd pays $50 for working fridges or freezers and provides free pickup. Schedule a pickup.
Appliances, furniture, and clothing - Pickup Service:
The Salvation Army offers free pickup of furniture, appliances, and clothing in good, working condition. Dishwashers and air conditioners are excluded. Don't forget to request your donation receipt for your taxes! Schedule a pickup.
Non-Working, Non-Useful?
The City offers free pickup for oversized items including furniture, appliances, and mattresses. Just call 3-1-1 to request service.
The City cannot pick up TV's and computer equipment because they are banned from landfills in the State of Illinois. Please take old computer equipment and TVs to the Household Chemicals and Computer Recycling Facility.
• Refrigerator and freezer doors must be removed for pickup by the City.
TIP: Many appliance stores will pick up old appliances for free when delivering new ones if you ask.
